BOXING.

HEENY MAY MEET TUNNEY.

New York, October 2

All America is discussing the New Zealand heavyweight, Tom Heeney, as a possible competitor for Gene Tunney’s title. Heeney has been matched with Riske at Detroit on Oetober x 26, and with Jack Sharkey at Madisonsquare on November 18. Tex Rickard, signing Heeney up with Sharkey, said he was earnestly seeking an opponent for Tunney next year. Rickard was delighted with the manner in which Heeney knocked out Maloney in 27 seconds. Wesbrook Pegler, nationally known as a boxing writer, describing Friday’s fight, said, “Maloney just leaned up against Heeney’s fist. Maloney remained down long enough for a count of 100.”
