GAS WORKS MANAGER.
MR. W. S. HEYES APPOINTED
A special meeting of the Borough Council Avas held last night, presided over by the Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau). Also present Avere Crs. Thompson, ,T. Ross, :S. E. Cowley, R. Rangiheuea, C. Rand, E. Parkin, and M. H. Wlalkcr. The business of the meeting was to consider applications for the position of gas manager to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. J. H. Doavnes resigning to take over the Nelson Avorks.
Twenty-five applications Avere received and after lengthy deliberation Mr. W. S. Heyes, of Hamilton, was elected to the position. Mr. Heyes assisted with the construction of the local Avorks many years ago.
