FOXTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

COMMITTEE MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the above committee was held last night, and was presided over by Mr. J. K. Ilornblow (chairman). There were also present: Messrs R. Rangiheuea (secretary), Alsop, E. Cowley, 11. Hutchins, M. E. Perreau, and John Ross. The headmaster (Mr. F. A. Mason), was also in attendance and apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. Huntley and A. Stevenson. Formal correspondence from the Board was read and received.

It was reported that a window sash had become disconnected and the glass broken. —It was resolved to instrust the janitor to see that in future the windows are securely fastened at night. The workmen on the high school building were granted the use of portion of the old school residence provided such occupation did not interfere with class work.

It was resolved to request the Board to erect a new door to replace one that is faulty. A discussion took place in regard to technical instruction and the hope was expressed that evening classes would be formed when the new building was completed. In reference to the agricultural class, Mr. Perreau offered the use of a- piece of ground for experimental plots free of cost provided that the committee erected the necessary fencing. —The offer was accepted with thanks.

The question of granting leave of absence to teachers was discussed and the opinion was expressed that .such leave should' not prejudice the welfare of the pupils. Aceouhts were passed for payment.

Mr. Alsop reported upon mat levs in connection with the side school at the Beach.

An interesting discussion took place in regard to fostering civic pride in the pupils, and in this connection the Mayor and Borough -Council were commended for the good example they were setting in this connection.

Other matters of minor import ance were discussed and.the meet ing rose.
