RACING.

MANAWyATU HUNT MEETING

The Manawatu Hunt Club were favoured with fine weather for their annual fixture at Awapuni yesterday and there was a fairly large attendance. The totalisator registered £11,078, against £11,411 for the meeting last year, a deficiency of £333, which may be accounted for by the fact that only three horses started in the first race. Results :

Raumai Hunters’ Hurdles: —Pink Rose 1, Atene 2, Sir Fanciful Won by three-quarters of a length. Time 3.25 1-5.

Te Matai Maiden Plate:—Vigilance (J. Procter), 1, Shining Star 2, Dainty Ways 3. Won by two lengths. Time 1.16 1-5. Winner trained by J. Procter. Manawatu Hunt Club Cup Steeples :—-Frisco Jack 1, Birkenose 2, Risk 3. Won by eight lengths. Time 5.57 1-5.

Aokautere Hack Flying Handicap:—Keddar 1, The Raider, 2, Arch Arrow 3. Won by one and nhalf lengths. Time 1.14 4-5.

Kairanga Open Handicap:—Lady Desmond 1, Anolo 2, Star Area 3. Won by one and a-half lengths. Time 1.48 3-5.

Parorangi Hunters’ Steeples:— Panehito 1, Peep-o’-Day 2, Lightmore 3. WVm by two lengths. Time 4.1.

Kiwi'tea Hack Hurdles Handicap: —Chrissarto 1, Peslnva 2, Vexatious 3. Won by two lengths. Time 2.52 2-5.

Flaxbourne Hack Handicap: — Airtight 1, Henna. 2, Joyeuse 3. Won by a length. Time 1.29,4-5.

OTAKI RACES. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NEXT.

On Friday and Saturday a races will be held at Otaki and provided the Club is fortunate in the weather Ihe meeting should be a highly successful one. The track is in great order and trainers are louder in their praise than ever, while the management will be even better than on the last occasion. There are eight entrants in the Hurdles; 17 in the Maiden Plate; eleven in'the Katihiku Hack; ten in the Ling Memorial; and eleven in the Pahiko Hack.

Blimp has been scratched for his engagements.
