BIRTH CONCEALMENT.

DALMATION BEFORE COURT. Whangarei, Last Night. The preliminary hearing of charges of alleged murder and concealment of birth preferred against Paul Lendich, aged 36, a Dalmatian, was held before the Kaitia Court this afternoon. Two Justices were on the Bench. Rosie Tewhui, a Maori girl, aged }9, in evidence said that she gave birth to a female child on August 23, accused, the father, assisting at the confinement. Later he took the child away and denied to neighbours that a child had been born. A sister of complainant, Mrs. Mihi Borovitch, said she knew that a full-time child had been born, and on expressing this opinion in the face of accused’s denial he threatened to “do for them.” The evidence will be continued tomorrow when five more witnesses will be heard.
