FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held last night, presided over by the President (Mr. W. T. Jewell). Also present were Messrs G. Smith, C. Pearson, P. Jack, M. Perreau, W. Ross, W. Jewell, J. Newton, D. Ogilvy, G. Alexander, D. Christie, J. Thomson, F. Woods, S. Austin, and the secretary (Mr. R. McMurray). Apologies for absence were received from Messys W. E. Barber, S. Barber and R. Bryant. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr. D. R. Barron in the loss of his father. NEW MEMBERS.

Messrs S. Evans, A. Steer, A. East, Brooke-Taylor were elected new members. CORRESPONDENCE was r<(ad and dealt with as follows :

From the Palmerston North Hospital Board agreeing to loan the Association an ambulance for sports day for £3 3s Od. —Received. From the Foxton Silver Band accepting the Association’s offer to co-operate on sports day by supplying a programme of music. Members expressed appreciation of the band’s offer and it was decided to hnake a donation to the band in the event of the sports proving a successful venture. It was reported .that Mr. A. A. West, of Palmerston Norlh, had agreed to act as judge and to bring his own assistants. It was decided to obtain an insurance cover over £2,000 for race day with the British Trades Insurance Co. GENERAL. Mr. Christie reported that as a result of the past secretary failing to book the Masonic Hall for Labour night, Jthe Foixton jPootba'U Club had engaged the hall for that evening. The minute book disclosed the fact that a motion to the effect that the hall be booked was carried some months ago and it was decided that a deputation await on the Club and place the matter before it at its next meeting.
