BOWLING.
SPECIAL MEETING OF FONTON CLUB.
A special general meeting of members of the Foxton Bowling Club was held last evening, presided over by the president (Mr. R. Bryant). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Ross, J. M. Thomson, M. H. Walker and E. Parkin.
The correspondence dealt with consisted mainly of invitations from district clubs, to attend openings of their greens. It was decided that such invitations be accepted and Foxton Club be represented.
The resignation of Mr. J. H. Downes, who has been a member for a number of years, during which time he has been a member of the management committee and for the past two seasons has occupied the position of secretary, was accepted with regret, and a minute jdaced on record of the efficient way he has carried out the secretarial duties, as well as the energy and enthusiasm shown by him in connection with other club matters. The Rev. W. H. Walton was unanimously appointed secretary. Mr. M. E. Perreau was appointed to the committee.
It was decided that Wednesday, October 19th, be observed as the date of the official opening of the local green. The following new members were elected: —Messrs W. Kirkland, R. Goldingham, A. Coughtrey, G. Webb, W. Mounsey, F. Marriott, G. Scad-den, Wl 11. Nicholas, B. Walls, C. Pritchard, R. Warwick, and E.' Goodman.
