A RIVER CUT.
TENDER LOWER THAN ESTIMATE. Christchurch, This Day. Tenders for the work of diverting the Eyre river into the Waimakariri and making a cut to prevent flood waters from going through Kaiapoi, were received at yesterday’s meeting of the Waimakariri River Trust. That of Messrs Parkinson (N.Z.), Ltd., a Wellington firm, was accepted, the amount being £9427, which is lower than the estimate of the Resident Engineer, who allowed a sum of £3.0,000 for the work.
