The London Daily Express makes a scathing attack on the conditions prevailing at. a surfing beach at Lido, an ultra fashionable seaside resort of Venice. It says: “Lido is at present an orgy of naked flesh. Adam has nothing on this garden of Eden, and at least gew fig leaves. Smart society rush there from all parts of the earth in pyjamas. People in pyjamas sit around sipping tea in hotels. They lunch in pyjamas, and dine in pyjamas, and for the remainder of the day lie about on the sands, a few condescending to bathe. Every now and again they take moving pictures of pyjairia parades. Women in elaborate' silk pyjamas, with bows and ribbons and boudoir caps, strut up and down the beach. They will walk about the streets and hotels in the same attire. If some women were seen in similar attire in the corridor of a London hotel theiA would he shrieks of horror, yet when they sit sun-bathing they unloosen the straps in order to reveal as much to the sun as possible. In short, the fatter the Lido lady is the more she likes to show.”
