HOT DRINKS FOR COLDS.
During changeable weather colds are prevalent, for which there is nothing so comforting as a hot drink. Black currant drink is excellent allaying throat irritation. Take a dessertspoonnful of black currant jam, a squeeze of lemon juice, and a teaspoonful of sugar, and place in a jug. Add half-a-pint of boiling water, cover the jug, and stand by the side of the fire for 20 minutes. Strain and serve. Honey may be used for sweetening instead of sugar. The children will just love treadle posset and it is so easy to prepare. Place a teacupful of milk in an enamelled pan and bring to the boil.
