OLD TIME ASSEMBLY DANCE.
A very enjoyable “old time assembly dance” was held in the Masonic Hall last night. The interior of the hall was prettily decorated , with bunting, greenery, and spring blooms. Visitors were present from all parts of the district and included many who were associated with the private assemblies held some years ago. The dance was in the nature of a re-union and the accommodation was taxed to its utmost. Mr. W. E. Barber officiated as M.C., and excellent music was supplied by Messrs Newton (piano) and Graham (violin). The dances included lancers, barn dance, mazurka, D’Alherts, schottische, and other ultra-modern gyratious, the movements of which had the jazz deveteos fairly puzzled hut everyone enjoyed the revival. Dui’ing the evening Mrs. S. Bai’ber contributed two much appreciated vocal items and Mr. A. Milner a monologue. The supper arrangements were carried out by Mr. Walls. The dance was voted a most enjoyable social function and the committee responsible are to be congratulated upon the success which attended their efforts.
