RAILWAYMAN KILLED.

RUN DOWN BY ELECTRIC 'CAR, Christchurch, Sept. 5. This evening the electric rail car which runs on the branch line to Little River overtook a railway employee, Frederick William W T iley, who was on a jigger. Wiley was seriously injured and died soon after his admission to the hospital. His left foot had been almost severed, and he had other severe injuries. The electric car travels very speedily, and almost silently, and allegations have been previously made that the whistle which the car carries is not sufficiently loud.
