THE BURWOOD MURDER.
BOAKES COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Christchurch, September 2. Charles William Boakes, aged 37, a taxi driver, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of having murdered Ellen Gwendoline Isobel Searff on or about June 15. “I have come to the conclusion,” said Mr. Mosley, S.M., to-day, “that the evidence raises more than a mere suspicion and accused must be committed for trial.” The Magistrate thanked both counsel and the police for their assistance on the proper presentation of a difficult case.
