FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office on Tuesday evening, presided over by Mr. W. T .Jewell (President). Also present were Messrs D. Barron, D. 'Christie, S. and W. E. Barber, G. Alexander, R. Bryant, J. Thomson, P. Jack, C. Pearson, S. Austin, E. Parkin, W. Ross, AY. Jewell G. Smith, and the secretary (Mr. R. McMurray). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Newton, Warwick, and Ogilvy. The N.Z. Auto Cycle Union wrote approving of Labour Day for the local Association’s Sports meeting this year, and alloting Foxton the Middle-weight Championship.—Re*ceived. The Labour Department wrote stating'that Labour Day this year would fall on the fourth Monday in October. —Received. The Secretary and treasurer were empowered to operate on the Association’s funds. The question of providing riders’ numbers was left in the hands of the town committee. Messrs A r . Robinson and H._ and D. Bowe were elected new members. ' . OFFICIALS. The following officials were elected ; Patron: Mr. J. Linklater M.P.; judge: Mr. E. West. (Palmerston North); doctor: Dr. E. M. AVyllie; first aid man: Mr. J, Martin; machine inspectors: Messrs P. Little and AA r . Jewell; starter: Mr. P. J. Jack; assistant starter: Mr. S. Austin; handicapper: Mr. Gaisford; time keeper: Messrs O’Connor, H. 'Hutchins and W. Neville; lap scorers : Messrs A. Stevenson, W. Ross, S. Barber, ‘and G. Alexander; score board officials: left in hands of Messrs D. Christie and Burdes; paddock stewards: Messrs Pearsbn, Smith, Woods, Thomson; track stewards: Messrs Parkin, Hay, W. E. Barber and Bai-ron; protest committee: Messrs Bryant, Jewell, Spragg and AY. E. Barber; press steward: Mr. W. T. Jewell; treasurer: Mr. E. Parkin; secretary: Mr. R. McMurray; gate steward: Mr. H. Reid. It was decided to make application to the. Racing Club for the use of the ground on Labour Day and also to erect a hurdle enclosure. The meeting decided that hot water be supplied free and that a man be engaged to attend to the caliphont. It was resolved to write to the Foxton Silver Band asking for their co-operation pn sports day. The president reported that 1 arrangements had been made for a set of pigeon holes in which stationary, etc., belonging to the Association would be kept, the cost being £2. Action endorsed. It was decided that the first race start at 11.30 a.m. The secretary was instructed to apply to the N.Z.A.C.U. for a refund of £5 paid in connection with the reliability trial. It was resolved to take out an accident insurance policy for the day of the sports for £2OOO.
