THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner’s cablegram, dated the 27th inst., reads: — Hemp, Manila, slow early this week and “J” grade August-Oetober shipments quoted at' £43 10s, market firmer toward the close and afloat sold at £44 ss. Sisal dull, small business has been done in No. 1. Tanganyika at £37 15s and No. 2 at £36 10s' for August-Oetober shipments. Mexican sales reported to Great Britain at £35. New Zealand market quiet and offers scarce, buyers have paid New Zealand sellers this week £35 for fair and £33 for common; value of high points £35 10s for August-Oetober shipments.
