OBITUARY.

PERCIVAL WILLIAM BROWN, AGED 63 YEARS. The death took place, at his residence, Shannon Road, this morning, after a brief illness, of a wellknown settler in the person of Mr. P. W. Brown, aged 63 years. The cause of death was due to longstanding heart trouble. Deceased was born in Little Hampton, England. Prior to settling in New Zealand, the late Mr, Brown followed a sea-faring career. About forty years ago he arrived in Nelson and removed to Masterton and later took up a dairy farm at Ballance. About 21 years ago he purchased Mr. D. Whibley’s dairy farm on No. 1 Line. He was a shareholder in the Shannon Co-operative Co., of which he was a director for 17 years and up to the time of his death. He was actively connected with the Salvation Army. In .1914 he paid a visit, for health reasons, to England and. at the same time attended the world’s Salvation Army Conference, in London. The late Mr. Brown was esteemed by all who knew him for his upright character, generous and cheerful disposition. A widow, one son and four daughters are left to mourn their loss and .they will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends \ throughout the town and district.

The funeral takes place on Thursday.
