CROQUET.
SHANNON CROQUET CLUB.
There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Shannon Croquet Club! recently, when the president (Mr. Aim), presided. THe president’s report showed that last year had been a most successful one, and that there was every promise for the future. The balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £ll 15s Bd, was considered to reveal an excellent state of affairs, and Mrs. Spencer was congratulated on her good work as secretary. The electron of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. Mason; vice-president, Mrs. Franks; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. B. Spencer; captain, Mrs. McLaclilan; committee, . Mesdames Clayton, Aim, Matterson, Roach, and Pickard. MANAWATU CROQUET ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Manawatu Croquet Association was held in Palmerston North on Thursday. Some 30 delegates were present. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated inter alia that there were now 23 clubs affiliated to the present body, with a (total of 580 members while there was a possibility of Gonville joining the association in the future. The seventh annual tournament was held on the Manawatu Club’s green during February, 1927, and it had proved to be a, most successful fixture, nine clubs being represented and 40 members participating in the games. Mesdames Spring (Manawatu) and Moore (Foxton) secured the handicap doubles trophy, playing for the Inter-Club banner, Takaro Club with 295 points were first, Northern being next with 280 points and Foxton and Oroua third (equal) with 270 points each. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: — President: Ven. Archdeacon Creed Meredith (Wangfcnui); vice-presi-dents: Mesdames Gambrill and R. A. Fuller and Mr. W. J. Robertson; secretary and treasurer: Mrs. C. A. E. Ferguson; delegate to Dominion Croquet Council: Ven Archdeacon Creed Meredith. After some discussion it was resolved to fix March 6, 1928, as the date for the Manawatu Tournament. A programme of events with several small alterations was drawn up while the introduction of a B grade open single championship (in favour of the consolation handicap) was decided upon. A sub-committee was set up to formulate rules governing the Corbridge Stars, Pollock Stars and Bonnet Buttons. It was decided that no matches would be played on Anzac Day.
