PUBLIC MEETING.
TO DISCUSS FOOTBALL MATTERS.
It is hoped that the public meeting, convened by the Foxton Football Club to discuss matters in connection with promoting ‘the best interest of the national game locally, will be attended by a thoroughly representative gathering of townspeople as well as all who actively participate in the game and who are connected with local clubs. The object of the meeting is to discuss the advisability or otherwise- Cf severing connection with the Horowhenua Union. Foxton, geographically, is within the Manawatu County winch is bounded by the Manawatu river. The Manawatu Rugby area as defined in the New Zealand Rugby rules as bounded by the Manawatu river excluding the borough of Foxton which is included in the Horowhenua Rugby area: How Foxton came to be excluded from its natural area and .transferred to Horowhenua needs some explanation as there does not appear to be any record of consent from Foxton clubs on the division. However, apart from this, dissatisfaction and discontent has existed through Foxtor.’s treatment at the hands of the Horowhenua Union for years past and last year application was made to alter the boundaries to allow Foxton to be included in Manawatu and it was decided to let matters go on for another year and if things did not improve to again apply for secession. Matters have not improved and the object of Monday night’s meeting is to decide what action will be taken to settle the matter.
