“Aussie”. —The August issue of “Aussie” should be eagerly sought after as it is a special racing (“Gee Gee”) number and from its attractive cover design to the last page is •full of irresistible humour. While motor tyre's are blotting out the hoof-marks of the Dobbins, the Gloamings are still going strong, so in this issue of “Aussie” the artists and writers who contribute to the magazine from every letter box in Australia and N.Z., have laughed mainly with the racehorse, though good old Dobbin ras not been altogether neglected. It is only when “Aussie” writers and artists get their funny ink to work that we know how humorous the horse really is. “Aussie” is famed for its covers and for this issue Mr. M. Matthews, the Auckland artist, has drawn one of the best covers to date.

“Humour”. —Plenty of laughter and plenty of money is to be found in every issue of “Humour.” While the paper would sell on its merits alone the proprietors have lately gives it additional interest by a series of cash competitions, per medium of crosswork tests and joke competitions. “Humour” is on sale every week at every bookshop in N.Z.

Weldon’s Ladies’ Journal, August number contains free patterns of lady’s frock, stylish afternoon dress and a new coatee. Beautiful coloured supplement of Paris fashions. A gratis transfer is enclosed for fashionable embroideries. Fashions include: —Three-piece suits; coat and dress suits, tailored frocks, coats and skirts, coats and wraps for every occasion, a seaside outlit and travelling kit, lingerie, the new step-in styles, blouses, jumpers and waistcoats, special tennis and river frocks, skirts, including the new garter skirt; bridal fashions, youthful designs if or the older woman, frocks for the races and garden parties. Millinery:— The latest Parisian models and special articles, etc. The August number of Weldon’s Bazaar of Children’s fashions contains free patterns of Girl’s school frock and dress 10-12 years, small girl’s frock and coatee 6-8 years.

Fashions for children : —Notes by (he Editress. Special designs for sunshine clothes. Dl’esses and coats for the seaside. Frocks for cottons, voile, silk and woollens. Sets for. tiny tots. Dress and knieker styles. Dainty dresses for big girls. Boy’s daytime clothes, millinery. Underwear for girls and boys. Special articles: —Why you should make the most of the sunshine and let the children walk. Helpful hints on keeping children well. Needlework, baby crochet slippers, etc.
