BAND OF HOPE.

The monthly meeting of the combined Band of Hope was held in the Presbyterian Sunday schoolroom on Friday evening, 27th July. There was a splendid attendance of children and a number of adults. The ReV. Nicholas presided, and the meeting was opened by temperance hymn and prayer. The following children took part in the programme: —Piano items: Phylis Tongs, Ula Thomson, and Joan Cowley; cornet sole by Horace Tongs; songs: Margaret Barron and Kathleen Leech; duets (vocal): Horace Tongs and Phylis Tongs, Shirley and Veda Barron, Keith and Nancy Chrystall; recitations: Francis Good, Joyce Rimrner, May MoKnight, Myrtle Hughes and Mollie Downes. At a suitable interval Adjutant Sansom gave a most interesting address on Temperance and carrying on. Meeting closed with Benediction.
