STEAMER BADLY BUFFETED.
Christchurch, August 1. Nine days out from NeAveastle and after one of the roughest trips on record, the Union Company’s Kauri, Avith a full cargo of coal, arrived at Lyttelton this morning. She experienced adverse conditions the Avhole of the Avay and; Avas generally buffeted in crossing the Tasman Sea. In Cook Strait on Saturday, lioavever, she received her Avorst handling, meeting a tremendous southeasterly sea, and the decks Avere aAvash almost all day. A feAV of the small deck fittings Avere twisted, but otherwise no damage Avas done.
