A DOCTOR’S DEATH
TOOK OVERDOSE OF POISON,
Dunedin, Last Night,
At 11 o’clock last night medical assistance Avas called in to Dr. A. McP. Marshall, of 43, Moray Place, but he died shortly after other medical men arrived. It is understood, that deceased had just made arrangements to leave for Australia.. He Avas a V.D. officer and anaesthetist at the Dunedin Hospital, and had had considerable war service. He Avas thirtyfour years of age and Avas married Avith two children.
An inquest was opened this af teroon, Avhen evidence of identificaion Avas taken.
Dr. Marshall Macdonald, Avho, with Dr. Jenkins, Avas summoned to Dr. Marshall’s residence, said that he had received a telephone message from Alexander Fleming Marshall, a dental student and brother of deceased, that his brother had taken an overdose of poison. They applied the usual remedies, but the heart failed suddenly after about 20 minutes’ treatment.
The facts stated by deceased’s brother were consistent Avith the view that deceased had taken a large dose of poison. The inquest Avas then adjourned.
