CORONIAL INQUIRY.
A eoronial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of John Henry Kerrison, who died suddenly on Saturday, Avas held in the Courthouse yesterday, before Mr A. Fraser, Coroner. William Walter Kerrison, aged nine years, a son of deceased, in OA'idenee stated, that, together with his brother, aged five, lie had been living with his father. Deceased had been ill for a Aveek prior to his death but had received no medical attention. Witness and his brother slept ini |the same bed, fas (their father and on Saturday morning witness heard his father fall out of bed at about 8 o’clock and rushed 0A r er to Mr. 11. Leaver’s residence and informed him that something Avas the matter. Mr. Leaver Avent for the doctor. During the night deceased Avas delirious and at .12 o’clock told Avitness to get up and cook the breakfast. Dr. L. S. Davis, medical practitioner, gave evidence as to having visited deceased on Saturday morning as a result of a. telephone communication from Mr. Leaver. He Avas lying by the side' of his bed and death had apparently taken place only a short while previously. A post-mortem examination of deceased revealed that he had died as a result of lobar pneumonia. Lester H. Hughes, dairy farmer, of Nikau (Pahiatua), a brother-in-luav of deceased stated that deceased came to reside in Foxton, tAvelve months ago, previously, to Avhich he had been living in the Pahiatua district. In February, prior to coming to live in Foxton deceased had had a serious illness .from which the doctor did not think he Avould recover, oAving to the bad state of his heart and lungs. A verdict Avas returned that John Henry Kerrison came to his death os n result of logar pneumonia.
