UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

COMMITTEE MEETING

A committee meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office last evening presided over by the President (Mr. W. T. Jewell). Also present were: Messrs W- E. Barber, R. Bryant, F. Woods, J. Thomson, E. Parkin, C. Pearson, P. Jack, S. Austin, D. R. Barron, M. E. Perreau, D. Christie, and the secretary (Mr. F. Rimmer). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs D. Ogilvy, G. Alexander, W. Ross, and W. Jewell, junr.

A letter was received from the New Plymouth Motor-Cycle Club asking the Club’s support in connection with two remits which it was forwarding to the annual meeting of the N.Z.A.C.U., to be held in Palmerston - North on August 8. — The request was agreed to and the Club’s delegate (Mr. S. Austin) was instructed accordingly. A copy .of the annual report and balance-sheet of the N.Z.A.C.U. was received and discussed.

The secretary pointed out that in the. balance-sheet Hamilton and Manawatu had received refunds of their contributions to the reliability trials, but Foxton had been omitted.

It was decided to make application for the refund.

The secretary tendered his resignation as he was leaving the dis-A trict.

The President and Messrs Perreau and Barber made eulogistic reference to the secretary’s work and expressed regret that he was leaving the district, the resignation being accepted with regret, and it being decided to record in the minutes the Association’s appreciation of Mr Rimmer’s services. The programme for the forthcoming meeting, as drawn up by the committee, was discussed at length, and was adopted. The total prize-money amounts to £155 10s, and shows a slight increase on last year. This year’s programme includes the following cycle races: —One mile, first prize, trophy, valued at 30s, 2nd 10s, 3rd ss; three-quarter-mile, Ist 255, 2nd 7s 6d, 3rd 2s 6d; half-mile, Ist 20s, 2nd ss, 3rd 2s Cd. Entrance fee Is in each case, the half-mile to be restricted to local riders only. The following new members were elected: —Messrs J. Christie, R. Goldingham, E. Goodwin, I. Corn, R. Burdess, D. Kennedy. It was decided to call applications for the position of secretary, and a special meeting of the committee is to be held at an early date to deal with same.
