Dr. A. G. Harvey died at the Patea Hospital on Sunday. The doctor, who was GO years of age, had lived many years in Waverley and was well-known all over the West Coast.
Constable Owen is at.present confined to his bed with blood poisoning. Constable Shannon, of Shannon, arrived yesterday to relieve until Constable Owen is well again., Constable J. V. Bell, who for the past seven years lias been stationed in Palmerston N. has been transferred to Foxton to replace Constable Ryan, who is now stationed in the Gisborne district. Constable Bell is expected to take up his duties locally to-day.
The death has occurred of Mr. John Northcott, a very highly respected resident of Waitunu West, in his 78th year. Deceased, who came to New Zealand in 1872, was born in Devonshire and has resided at Waitunu West for the past for-ty-three years, carrying on farming in that district.
