“THE ACE OF CAiDS.”
Michael Arlen, author of “The Green Hat,” “These Charming People” and “Mayfair,” from which was taken “The Ace of Cads,” and which comes to the Town Hall Cabaret on W-ednesday, in the form of a Paramount Picture is quoted as saying that when he wrote the story he must have had Menjou in mind, although lie did not know him at that time. The character at Maturin is that of a man who maintains silence for twenty years for the love of a woman, only to have her daughter fall in love with him. The spinning of a tale by him, in which he depicts himself as a cad that the daughter might hate him instead of loving him, is enacted as only Menjou can do it. The rest of the cast includes Alice Joyce, Philip Strange and Suzanne Fleming. With “Off his■ Beat” (comedy), and News at usual Cabaret prices. When the Dutch and Irish get together —watch out for fun and excitement! Marion Davies as the little Dutch slavey —Owen Moore as the son of Erin she loves from afar —provide more laughs and thrills than you’d think could be crammed into one film! This film is “The Red Mill,” heading next Friday’s list/.
