BOXING

Brisbane, July 17. Purdy (10.0) beat Joe Hall (10.3) on points last night. The negro took four out of the first six rounds and then eased off suspiciously. In the fourteenth Hall was stung into & vicious attack and had Purdy going but failed to follow it up in/he fifteenth. The verdict was loudly cheered. Despite Hall’s disappointing display Purdy was always pusy,. his evasion being reminiscent of Grime, but things looked bad for him in the fourteenth when Hall showed a flash of real form.

Sydney, July 17/

At the Stadium last night Jack Dillon and O’Connor fought a draw. The going throughout was very willing. Dillon showed to more advantage in the early stages but the American evened things in the latter rounds.
