MARRIAGE AMENDMENT BILL

NEW PROVISIONS,

Wellington, July 14,

Special provisions are proposed in the Marriage Amendment Bill for the appointment of persons to conduct marriage ceremonies on behalf of religious bodies whose rules do not recognise the office of a minister of religion. The Registrar-General is authorised to enter upon the list of officiating ministers the names of such adult members of the religions body concerned as he thinks proper.
