GAS WORKS
MAY REPORT,
During the month of May 384,000 ft. of gas was manufactured at the local gas works and there was 14,000 ft. in the holder on the first of the month, making a total of 398,500 ft. During the month 338,800
ft. was used by consumers, 21,000 ft. at the works and there was 12,800 ft. in the holder on June Ist, making a total of 372,400 ft. and leaving 26,100 ft. unaccounted for, representing 6.5 per cent. Thirtyfive tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,985 e.ft. to the ton and producing 9 tons 2 cwt. of coke. ■ The receipts for the month totalled £213 7s Od and were made up as follows:—Gas sales (lighting) £45 11s Bd, heat and power £lO4 19s Bd, coke sales £26 13s sd, tar sales £27, fittings £6 12s 3d, miscellaneous £2 10s Od.
The expenditure for the month totalled £223 9s 4d, and was made up as follows: —Coal £9B 5s lOd, salaries and wages £4O 14s Od, services and fittings £ll 10s 3d, tools £1 2s 6d, repairs 4s 6d, ’phone £3, cartage and freight £2 13s 3d, working expenses 11/9, Power Board £2, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. *
The manager reported that during the month two cookers were installed and a good deal of repair work carried out.
The reports were adopted and it was decided to grant the stoker his annual leave.
The manager was instructed to prepare a list of the houses in which gas cookers, califonts, grillers, etc. are installed to the next .meeting for the purpose of boosting gas for cooking purposes.
