GRAVE CHARGES.

GIRL SERIOUSLY ILL.

Christchurch, June 30.

Three men, Walter James Alexander Mitchell, Harry Allen Bellingham and Robert Grant Bastion, were charged to-day with having unlawfully used an instrument on a female. Two of the men were charged with using an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage. The Chief Detective asked for a remand for a week. He stated that, in the case in which Mitchell and Bastion were connected, the girl was dangerously ill. Bellingham was granted bail on his own recognisance for £250 and two sureties of £125 each. The Magistrate Mr. Mosley, ordered the other two to befcletaincd in custody.
