“It is a most impudent imposition/’ remarked Mr. Wyvcrn Wilson, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court, when lie sentenced Michael Lind to one months’ imprisonment on a charge of obtaining hoard to the value of £3O 'by means of false pretences. . Accused admitted the offence, and in a statement said he was a married man living apart from his wife. Lie went to live at aFrankton hoarding house for some weeks. He told the hoarding house keeper that he had some mortgage money due to him, hut this was not true. He said he intended to pay the amount when lie got work. An application for probation was refused.
