TEMPORARY POWER PLANT FOR AUCKLAND.
TO BE INSTALLED AT COST OF government. NECESSITATED BY DELAY AT ARAPUNI. Auckland, June 27. The Government has definitely decided to instal an extra plant at its own expense to supply the Auckland Province until power is available from Arapuni. This information was contained in a telegram from the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams. read at a meeting of the Auckland Power Board. The telegram stated the Government had agreed to purchase and instal the extra plant as suggested at the recent conference of the Power Boaid at Hamiltion.
Mr. W. J. Iloldsworth, chairman of the Auckland Board, said it had not been decided where the temporary plant would bo placed. Bui it would probably he at the Penrose or Waihi sub-station. The Government would slightly increase the cost of power supplied from the temporary plant. But that was recognised as reasonable and the Board was quite prepared to pav move. It was decided to reply to the Minister,, expressing the Boards appreciation of the Governments decision.
