DEMONSTRATION OF FIREFIGHTING.

FOXTON VISITORS MUCH INTERESTED.

Members of the Wellington Fire Brigade, in charge of Superinendcnt Crcoke, gave a very interesting demonstration of fire fighting at the Central Fire Station yesterday for the benefit of the members of the Foxton Fire Board, which had met in Wellington for its annual meeting. The demonstration included the use of the various machines, including the telescopic fire ladder, res cues by means of ladders and rope slings (when ladders are not .available), extinguishing of. various types of fires with chemical extinguishers, display with the jumping sheet, methods of artificial respiration and drill, and concluding with a complete turn out of the brigade as if answering a call. Mr. F. C. Cray, chairman of the Foxton Fire Brigade, expressed thanks to Superintendent Creekc, officers and men, for (he demonstration, and also (o the Wellington hoard for the use of the office for the meeting. It was a very fine display, and he was proud of his association with the Wellington Fire Brigade, which, as time went on, would establish the best lire fighting appliances in the Dominion. Superintendent Crcoke replied that the demonstration was the commencement of a system lie hoped io inaugurate, not only for ihe existing (ire prigades, hut to arrange these drills for the benefit of school children throughout the city for hoy scouts.
