FOXTON BOY SCOUTS.

ANNUAL COMMITTEE MEETING

The first annual committee meeting of the Foxton Boy Scouts was . held in Ross’s rooms last night. The Mayor (Mr. Perreau) presided and there was a good attendance of those interested, including the scout master (Mr. Warwick). The annual report (which appeared in our previous issue) together with the balance-sheet were read and adopted. In speaking to the above, the chairman congratulated the leaders upon the success of the movement and the scouts upon their enthusiasm. He .referred to the wholesome effect such training had upon the lads, which laid the foundation of good citizenship. He also referred in similar congratulatoi'y terms to the Girl Guide movement. Both scouts and guides had behind them the good wishes of the public and those who were responsible for the training of the boys and girls were entitled to the highest praise. The movement was worthy of all commendation and he hoped further success and a wider development of the training would be evidenced during the coming year. The Mayor’s remarks were endorsed by the Rev. W. 11. Walton, and Messrs D. Christie, F. A. Mason and Powell. Mr. Warwick thanked the speakers for the sentiments and good wishes. The following officers were elects .—Chairman, Mr. Perreau; secretary, Mr. Warwick; treasurer, Mr. F. A. Mason; committee: Messrs Rev. Walton, J. K. Hornblow, S. Powell, D. Christie, F. A. Mason, F. Woods, R. Bryant, with power to add.

It was decided to hold a social gathering at an early date and to

invite the guides to participate. Resolved that in future the committee meet at stated periods.

After several other matters were discussed, the usual votes of thanks concluded the meeting.
