MANAWHENUA RUGBY UNION. MEETING AT SHANNON/ At the conclusion of the repre sentative game on Saturday a meeting of the committee of the Manawhenua Union was held at. Shannon. A copy of the itinerary of the Maori teams’ tour was received from the New Zealand Rugby Union, Saturday, July 23rd being the date allotted to Manawhenua. — Tin's date was accepted. The Wellington Rugby Union wrote asking if August 27th, would be a suitable date for Manawhenua to play them at Wellington.—lt was decided to. accept this date providing they meet a Wellington A team. To enable, the Union to play on this date it was decided to extend the northern tour three days, by finishing up at ’Wellington instead of Hamilton. The names of Messrs Hands, Cuba and Hewitt have been subnutted to the N.Z.R.U. for selection as referees for representative fixtures. RANFURLY SHIELD. In connection with the challenge for the Ranfurly Shield. On the motion of Mr. Casey it was resolved to issue a challenge to the holders of the Shield. A further motion was also carried that in the event of Hawke’s Bay regaining the Shield that the game with them on July 30th be made a Shield match. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr. Casey gave notice of motion “That the Union consider the advisability of playing junior representative fixtures.” EQUAL REPRESENTATION. Mr. J. O’Connor moved that they should insist on equal representation with Wellington in the selection of players iu the Wellington Manawhenua team in the trial games. The return game Manawatu v. Horowhcnua will he played at Palmerston North, on Saturday, July 16th. At Pahiutua yesterday, Wairarnpa had an easy win over Bush, the score being 38 points to 8. The WairariYpa team was practically identical to that which beat Hawke’s Bay for the Ranfurly Shield, while the home team had a number of defections from the original selection. The speed and combination of the visitors was altogether too much for Bush, though the latter’s forwards made a creditable showing. The local half holidayites played a team from Palmerston N. on the racecourse yesterday and won by 19 points to 9. The following scored for Foxton: Small, Robinson (2), Stevenson. Stevenson also kicked a penalty goal and converted one try, Huff converting another. REFEREES FOR SATURDAY. The following referees have been appointed for Saturday’s matches: Weraroa v. Awahou, at Foxton, Mr A. George. Juniors: —Awahou v. Mirauui, at Foxton, Air W. Neville; Weraroa v. Foxton, at Prouse’s Paddock, Mr-J. Smith. Thirds: — Awahou v. Shannon, at Foxton, Mr A. Rouse. Fourths: —Levin D.H.S. v. Awahou, at Weraroa, at 1.30, Mr lv. Davis.
