PERSONAL.

We are pleaded to report a slight improvement in the condition of Mr. William Ross, who has been confined to his bed with a serious illness during the past week. Following on a seizure about a week ago, the deatli occurred at Wellington rather unexpectedly last night of Mr. L. F. Ayson, late Inspector of Fisheries, in his seventieth year. He retired from the Public Service only a few weeks ago.

Miss P. McMurray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. McMurray, of Foxton, will in company with Miss Emerson, leave by the Makura on Tuesday next for San Francisco and New York. Arrangements have been made for the two young ladies to enter Vinelaiids College for special class work. They will later proceed to London. Miss McMurray has specialised in certain class work under the Wellington Education Board for upwards of three years and recently organised a class at Miramar (Wellington). Miss McMurray was selected by the expert in retard work, who recently visited the Dominion, and as the result of this recommendation she will make a further study and gain wider experience in New York. Miss McMurray will be away from the Dominion for about 12 months. The good wishes of Miss McMurray’s many friends, both in and out of the teaching profession, will go with her in her journeyings abroad.
