CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor)

Sir, —‘In reference to your correspondent, E. G. Martin, in your issue of the 11th inst., I beg space in which to reply. He refers back to 1922 to apologise for his actions and in doing so shows his bad taste when he says: “The Labur candidate should have been the Rev. M. Ayreton,” when he knows that the Labour candidates are all selected by ballot. Very well, I will not intrude upon your valuable space in “applauding” Mr. E. G. Martin’s actions or principles, whichever he wishes to call them. What ever bis actions were previous to 1922, I am not going to comment upon. A man is judged for what lie is. To use his own expression be “scabbed” and evidently he would like to induce the members of the Flaxmills’ Employees Union to “scab” by accepting a lower rate of pay than that set down by the court. Of course 3’ou could not expect anything else from anyone who has “ratted” and to use his own expression “scabbed.” No doubt, Mr, Editor, your correspondent’s actions are typical of the man, in bringing this, his own poor apology forward on the eve of the sitting of the Court, viz., on Tuesday next. Thanking yon for your space. For my part this correspondence is closed. —

Yours, etc., C. P. GREY. Shaunon,l7/6/27.
