PARLIAMENT.
Wellington, Last Night.
The session of Parliament which opens in Wellington on June 25 will be very largely a tarriff- session, but much other important work will come before members for consideration.
The dairy control issue will be threshed out at length.
The licensing question will come up again. A licensing bill was before the House last session, but it was not gone on with. Iu some form' or another Bible-,in-schools is likely to be heard of. Gaming is expected to be discussed. The Government will not bring down a bill, but will give facilities for private members to do so. The bill will contain proposals for the publication of dividends, the double totalisator, telegraphing of money to the machine, etc, The House will be asked to ratify the Government’s promise of £l,000,000 for the Singapore Base. Afore is to be heard of rural credits, the idea being to extend the present legislation by incorporating more of the report of the Royal Commission than was put into last year’s Act.
These are only a few of the leading lines. There will be a big programme, and the session is likely to last well into October at least.
