Mr John Dockery, aged 84 years, a resident of Grey town for over 50 t ears, died on Monday. We are pleased to report that Mr •H. Hutchins is now up again after his illness and hopes to he about again in a few days. Mr. E. A. H. Osborne, who was taken seriously ill at Shannon on Saturday, and was removed to his son’s residence at Foxton, is reported to be much improved.

The funeral of Archdeacon Devoy took place at Wellington on Tuesday. Requiem mass was celebrated by Archbishop O’Shea, Monsignor McKenna assisting. There was an overflowing congregation. The musical part of the ceremony was carried out by St. Patrick’s choir, and an eloquent funeral oration delivered by ..Archbishop Redwood. The funeral cortege was a long one and many people lined the streets bareheaded as it passed.
