News has readied Dunedin oi' a deadly epidemic that is at present prevalent on Keppel Island which is situated between Samoa and Tonya. The scouge has been deemed sufficiently serious by the Administration in the Tongan Group to demand assistance from the Health Department there. Dr. Carl If alien, on tin; medical staff at Tonga, and an Otago graduate, lias been despa (died to Keppel Island to deal with ihe outbreak. He has been temporarily transferred from Unpin and the latest news states that preparations are well in hand for the 350 mile cruise to Keppel Island. which must lie undertaken in a small sailing cutter.
