MANAWATU LICENSING COMMITTEE.

Tlu* annual meeting of the Alamnvatu Licensing Coinmittee was held in the Courthouse yesterday, presided over by Mr. ,J. L. Stout, S.M. (chairman). Also present were Messrs J. K. Hornblow, R. Bryant, J. H. Perrett, J. Curran and J. E. Walker. Police reports were favourable in all eases. " NEW LICENSES. New licenses were granted, 'C. Pritchard, Post Office Hotel, Foxton; E. 11. Jones, Levin Hotel, Levin; D. King, Junction Hotel, Sanson; .J. F. Flynn, Rangitikei Hotel, Bulls. RENEWALS. Renewals were granted J. McKenna, Manawatu Hotel', W, Kirkland, Whyte's Hotel, R. McMullian, Family Hotel, all of Foxton; T. P. Moyniham, Manawatu Club Hotel, Shannon; J. Curran, Albion Hotel, Shannon; W. Speechlay, Endymion Hotel, Awahuri; C. C. Price, Criterion Hotel, Bulls. TRANSFERS. Transfers were granted E. Rochfort to C. Pritchard, Post Office Hotel, Foxton; and J. Bebbington to \Y. Noad, Grand Hotel, Lev i'll. A wholesale wine and spirit license was granted to W. Bull Ltd., Levin. CONGRATULATIONS AND A WARNING. The Chairman, on behalf of the Bench, congratulated the licensees on the good police reports presented, but also gave a warning, similar to that given in other centres, about the encouragement of betting in hotels.
