MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
CR. If. J. FAGAN RESIGNS. At the monthly meeting of the Manawatu County Council held in Sandon on Tuesday, the clerk (Mr. A. K. Drew), announced that he had received a letter from Cr. H. J. Fagan resigning his position as Councillor for the Sandon riding. He had taken the necessary steps to procure the appointment of a successor. The chairman (Cr. W. E. Barber) said that it was a disappointment to him that Cr. Fagan had resigned. He had taken a great interest in the work and welfare of the Council and it was to be regretted that he had seen fit to resign. On the motion of the chairman seconded by C’r. D. W. Reid, the council accepted the resignation with regret and placed on record its appreciation of his services. Cr. Fagan who was not present at. the meeting, was granted leave of absence. MR. ,J. 11. PERRETT NOMINATED. Ratepayers throughout the Manawatu County Council will be pleased to learn that Mr. J. H. Perrett, of Sanson, has. consented to be nominated for the vacancy on the Manawatu County Council rendered vacant by the resignation of Cr. Fagan. Mr. Perrett’s public services are well-known, throughout the province and it goes without saving that he will be returned without opposition. Mr. Perrett is well versed in public affairs and possesses a strong personality and a man of his outstanding ability will be a, timely addition to the Manawatu County Council at a time when that body is faced with serious problems.
