GAOL FOR NEGLIGENT DRIVERS.
MAGISTRATE’S THREAT
Christchurch, May 27,
“It will not be long now before negligent drivers will be sent straight to gaol,” said Mr E. D. Mosley, S'.M., at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, in dealing with a youth who drove past a tram at a street intersection at 35 miles per hour.
“I will not cancel defendant’s lie-, onse, but I must call public attention to the results of negligent driving,” said the Magistrate. Accidents happen every day in this country, and something must be done to stop them. Defendant is convicted and fined £5 and costs.”
