MOTOR THIEVES.

MESSR’S ROSS, ROUGH AND CO’S. VAN RECOVERED.

The Ford delivery van which was missed from Messrs Ross, Rough and Co.’s flaxmill on Saturday morning, at about the same time that an Overland car belonging' to Mr. F. R. Holtom, of Paekakariki, was found in the Manawatu river at ilit, end of the wharf, was found on Saturday evening abandoned on the road between two or three miles north of Paekakariki. The discovery was made by Mr. Holtom, who removed the van to his garage. Two of the tyres were punctured, hut otherwise the van is not damaged. .BURGLARIES AT TOKOMARU AND FEILDING.

Other burglaries besides those which occurred early on Saturday morning at Paekakariki, Ohau and lieathevlea, are reported to have been discovered at Tokomaru and Feilding. Mr. Webb’s store at Tokomaru was entered, and the premises of McGruer’s, Ltd., at Feilding were broken into and a small sum of money and a quantity of wearing apparel taken. In this latter case entry was effected by breaking a window that overlooks the storerooms at the back of the - showroom. The window was provided with iron bars, but these were bent hack by the intruder to permit of his ingress. A small amount of change lying in the till was removed, hut the safe was not interfered with.
