LONDON. May 20. At Christie’s sales Romney’s “Lady in Muslin.” fetched 10,000 guineas; “The Prescott Group,” 9200 guineas; “Lady Hamilton as Bacchante,” 3300 guineas; the 6ame as Cassandra, 2800 guineas; “Mrs Lambarde,” 8500gns. Raeburn’s “Mrs Austin” brought 5400 guineas and Gainsborough’s “Janies Christie” (founder of the establishment), 7200 guineas. Reynold’s “Lady Iveppel,” fetched 6200 guineas. The Romneys totalled 38,600 guineas, and were largely purchased for America. The day’s sales totalled 136,632 guineas.—Australian Press Association and Sun cable.
