CONFLAGRATION.

STARTED BY SPARK PROAI TRAIN LOCOAIOTIVE.

A spark from the engine of this afternoon’s Foxton-Palmerston N. train ignited a clump of pampas in front of Air Barron’s residence, situate next to the old tennis courts. The flames spread rapidly and endangered the house a few, feet distant. The fire alarm was sounded and the brigade was quickly on the scene and a good lead of water soon removed all danger.

Airs Barron and some neighbours kept the flames in check prior to the brigade’s arrival. No damage was done to the house.
