PERSONAL

That rare event, a "Pearl ’ wedding, was celebrated in Dunedin on Friday. The couple concerned were Mr and Mrs Aleu Kijgour, of St. Kilda. They were married at East Taieri on Afay 13th, 18G2. The event was fittingly celebrated on Friday, and Air and Airs Kilgour were presented with a wallet.

The remains of the late Haaka Whaanga were buried at Nuhaka in the presence of the largest gathering ever seen there. The funeral was a full military one, by the direction of the Government. The firing party was provided by the old Alaori. Pioneer Battalion. Every local body and Sports organisation was represented, and Natives from all parts of the North Island were present.
