REEVE STREET REQUIREMENTS.

AGAIN DISCUSSED BY COUNCIL. At last night’s Borough Council meeting the Reeve Street storm water menace was again discussed. At a previous meeting Mr Jacobsen had stated that Messrs Evans Bros, were prepared to put a cutting through the hill from Union Street to Reeve Street for £4O. Mr Jacobsen was requested to obtain this price in writing from the contractors, but at last night’s meeting the .tender submitted amounted to £BO. Cr. Rand put in a strong plea that something be done for the Reeve Street residents. They were very anxious to obtain a better outlet before the winter set in. Reeve Sereet was covered with water all the winter, and residents had to use gum boots to get in or out. If a cut was put through the hill they would have easy access to Union Street, and a good road to town. He would like to see something done if possible, without the expenditure of too much money. It was pointed out that the road had been graded up in Reeve Street, and should not he in a very bad state this winter. It was decided to hold the matter over until more funds are available.
