ASPHYXIATED

Christchurch, Last Night. The inquest on Timothy Harnett, an old-age pensioner who died suddenly in his house on Thursday, was concluded before Mr Lawry, S.M., to-day. Evidence taken on Friday was to the effect that Hartnett returned to his lodging under the influence of liquor, and took a lit from which he did not recover.

Medical evidence was that death was due to asphyxiation caused by a foreign body obstructing the air passage. The coroner found accordingly.
