CAMPING AREAS FOR MOTORISTS.

CHAMBER’S ACTIVITIES. At the monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, held last Thursday evening, a letter was received from the Foxton Harbour Board stating that the Board had agreed to the Chamber’s request that a camping area be set aside at the Beach for visiting motorists, the location yet to be decided on. Mr. Perreau also reported that a request had also been placed before the Council by the Chamber for a camping ground on Victoria Park. The council’s reserves funds were very low at present and they could not assist the scheme financially, but the council was quite agreeable to visitors using the reserve as a camping ground. A notice board should be erected, water laid on and a fire place built, however. It was decided to leave the matter of providing a camping ground on Victoria Park in the hands of Mr. Perreau to again bring before the Council.
